The future of cogeneration, with and without grid-connection prospects
Long a cornerstone of the development of anaerobic digestion in France, biogas cogeneration is now at a pivotal moment. The repeal of feed-in tariffs for electricity produced through cogeneration, combined with the introduction of the Biogas Production Certificates (CPB) scheme and increasing incentives for gas injection, is forcing the sector to fundamentally rethink its models.
In this transition context, cogeneration stands at a strategic crossroads. Between the end of existing contracts, new valorization opportunities, and technical or economic constraints, project developers and operators must make structuring decisions for the future of their facilities.
This conference will provide a cross-cutting perspective on the outlook for cogeneration units, whether or not they have the option of connecting to the gas grid. It will address legal and regulatory issues, the economic realities of projects, early feedback from the field, and the role of cogeneration in France’s medium- and long-term energy scenarios.
